May Mansell Memorial Trophy – significant contribution to the fostering of football within MCFC – Peter Verduin

As you will probably know, Pete has been around the club for 25+ years assisting in a range of areas. In his current role as MAA convenor and MAA2 manager, he has held the MAA together. There has been a lot of turnover of players and coaches in the past 7 years but Pete has remained the one constant throughout, and I do believe without his continued work the MAA may have all fallen apart.
Pete is one of the most selfless people you will find, and clubs like ours are built off people like Pete who put the club’s needs above their own. At every home game he is up at Parklands at 7am to ensure the nets are setup. He stocks and runs the Parklands canteen, and he is always the last to leave.
Quick story, we were having a beer after a recent home game and I look out in the dark of Parklands and I see see Pete putting the cricket pitch fencing back up by himself – he doesn’t ask for help he just does what is needed without complaint.
With a high turnover of players over the last few years in our squad, Pete’s efforts have largely gone unnoticed and in my opinion he has been greatly under appreciated by his own players. Pete doesn’t need this trophy to ensure his legend status in our club, but in my eyes he certainly deserves it in his final season.
