Northern Galaxy FC
In 2020 Mount Colah Football Club and Berowra Football Club formed a partnership focused on developing female football north of Hornsby. Through this partnership we saw in 2021 the launch of Northern Galaxy, 100 years after the launch of Women’s Football in Australia.
Northern Galaxy builds on the proud heritage from Mount Colah FC and Berowra FC and was an immediate success interest from girls and women wanting to play in female only teams. In 2021 Northern Galaxy launched with approximately 200 players, and has exponentially grown from then.
Players wishing to play in Northern Galaxy Teams register with their home club (usually the club closest to them geographically – Mt Colah FC or Berowra FC) under the girls’ or women’s products in PlayFootball.

Girls' Sapphires U6 - U11
Girls’ Sapphires football encompasses girls Under 6’s to Under 11’s, with players taking part in small sided games with modified field sizes and playing numbers. As a player progresses through the Sapphire age groups the field size increases as well as player numbers, preparing them eventually for the full-size field version of 11v11 football that we see being played in the A-League every weekend. The youngest players we can take into Sapphires are those girls turning 5 in the playing year.
Our Sapphire teams are run by volunteer Coaches and Managers with the support of Kano Football Coaches. Our Sapphires train on Thursday nights at Foxglove Oval and play games on Sunday mornings around the upper North Shore.
The goal of Sapphires is to provide a safe space for girls to have fun, build football skills and, make new friends to build a solid foundation for their football journeys.

Girls' Juniors U12 - U18
Girls’ Juniors encompasses Under 12’s to Under 18/20’s, with players Under 13’s and up playing on full-size fields in a competition format.
Girls’ Junior teams are run by Volunteer Coaches and Managers. The club will support these volunteer roles with training when required.

Women's Seniors
Women’s Seniors encompasses All Age Women’s (including Women’s Premier League), Over 30’s and O45’s Teams, with players playing on full-size fields in a competition format.Women’s Senior teams are run by Volunteer Coaches and Managers. The club will support these volunteer roles with training when required.
Northern Galaxy is pleased to announce that we have a Women’s Premier League Team in the 2026 Winter Season.
Women’s teams generally train on Thursday nights at Foxglove, with games played on Sundays.

Development Opportunities
Girls' Junior Development League
Girls Junior Development League encompasses Girls Under 10’s and Under 11’s. Players trial to be offered a position in the JDL Teams in the first 2 weeks of November in the year prior to the winter season.
In 2026, Northern Galaxy has 1 Girls JDL Team:
- Under 10 JDL
JDL Teams train twiceduring the season. Pre-season commences in February with days and times to be confirmed. Games are played on Sunday mornings.
The goal of JDL is to provide a development opportunity for those players who love football and are keen to improve their skills.
JDL is run in cooperation between Volunteer Parent Coaches, Parent Managers and, Kano Football Coaches.

Girls' Diamond League
Girls Diamond League encompasses Under 12’s to Under 18’s, with players Under 13’s and up playing on full-size fields in a competition format. These teams are the progression from Junior Development League. Players trial to be offered a position in the Diamond League Teams in the first 2 weeks of November in the year prior to the winter season.
In 2026, Northern Galaxy has 3 Diamond League Teams:
- G12 Diamond League
- G16 Diamond League
- G18 Diamond League
Diamond League Teams train twice a week usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with games played on Sundays.
