COLTS SUPER LEAGUE WINS ITS FIRST CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS GRAND FINAL!

From being the first Colts Super League team win the Premiership, to then go on to be the first Colts Super League team to win the Football NSW Champion of Champions to be the number 1 community football team in NSW is simply an amazing performance!

Horsley Park demolished their semi-final opposition. They were one slick operation. So the die had been set for our boys. They were up against one awesome team.

The boys’ game is at 8:30am. First game of the day. The weather forecast wasn’t looking good with rain forecasted. Robbie had hired a bus. I arrive at VSP at the same time as the bus and caught up with supporters such as MiniRoos Coordinator, Duncan Cunningham.

Chatting with the parents it seems the boys were being boys. They were a bit quieter than usual. I think the parents were both excited and nervous as it was a big event for all.

This was one huge game, there were lots of supporters from both teams. Absolutely humbling seeing so many people coming to watch and support the boys. It made you very proud to be a MCFC supporter!

During the game the kids showed their support by chanting “Let’s go Colah, let’s go!”. The crowd cheered and exploded when the Colts opened the scoring. Brilliant play at the transition by the Colts! The Colts were playing to their game plan making it hard for Horsley Park to score by not making gaps in the centre and making them play wide and shoot at goal from a distance. A few minutes another the start of the second half, Tommy King comes back on the field after a break. The disruption causes Horsely Park to make a mistake in the backs where we saw Tommy get the ball and score! Keeper Josef Stransky, after his amazing performance in last week’s Sudden Death Shootout, continued to shine with some outstanding saves as Horsely Park desperately tried to equalise late in the game. There were many unsung heroes of the team. I mentioned a few. but it was a whole team performance from the forwards, midfield, backs and the keeper, as well as the Coaches and Manager, Fiona Green.It was nearly thirty years ago that a MCFC male team brought home a CoC title.

12 BOYS MATCH REPORT

Mount Colah has clinched the Under 12 Boys Champions of Champions trophy with an impressive, clinical display.

Horsley Park began the match strongly, dominating possession in the early stages, as green sat back well to allow light blue to play themselves into opportunities.

Despite having less of the ball, Mount Colah remained dangerous on transitions, and on a lightning counterattack, Christopher Hooker opened the scoring at Valentine Sports Park.

The midfielder made a run in behind and was found by Nicholas Middleton, before converting clinically with a guided finish into the bottom right corner.

Horsley went close to equalising – Jaden Reid took a positive first touch to find himself behind, but he could not convert as a dinked finish drifted wide of the near post.

Horsley continued to control the ball and put in several dangerous crosses, but Josef Stransky remained solid and made some impressive catches and saves.

Early in the second half, a well-worked move from Horsley saw Zachary Bivona find himself in behind, but Stransky made another impressive save in the one-on-one.

However, Mount Colah showed their ability on counterattacks once more, as they doubled their lead.

Tommy King pressed well and latched onto a loose ball, before running in behind, rounding the goalkeeper with composure and converting to give Colah a second goal.

Horsley hit the post as through Jonah West as they remained in search of an equaliser, with their impressive possession-based football just not being rewarded with a goal.

Colah goalkeeper Josef Stransky continued to impress, making two stunning saves in the space of a minute off goal bound efforts to deny Horsley from finding a way back into the match.
