As the 2020 season draws to a close, I hope everyone involved has enjoyed the season despite the challenges and restrictions.
This 2020 season has been one of toughest challenges for our club and for the sport in general. The Covid-19 global pandemic is an unprecedented event in our lifetime. The challenge of getting our club and the sport back to training and ultimately back to play has taken a huge effort from many volunteers in our club and across the sport. I am proud to say that as a Club, and across the association and a sport we rose to the challenge and made it happen successfully.
Despite the challenge of the pandemic this season saw many successes and growth within our Club. Overall we saw an increase in player numbers and an increase in teams from 2019, particularly in the girls and women’s teams. This season also saw the successful introduction of SAP and our Development programs under the expert guidance of our Technical Director and Coaching Coordinator. On the field our teams and players have shown the Mount Colah ‘Colts’ spirit of friendship, sportsmanship and a never give in attitude. This season has again yielded several premierships and many more team and personal achievements.
As this season comes to a close I would to thank the many volunteers and players that made 2020 a success for us. Firstly thank you to our executive for all your continued guidance and support throughout the season, and the herculean effort to get the club back to play. Thank you to all committee members for your dedication and passion and all your work throughout the season. Thank you to all our coaches, managers and team officials for all your work to get our teams on the field in a CovidSafe and enjoyable way. Finally, thank you to all the players and teams for your patience and participation in this challenging season. Whilst restrictions made the season different to previous years I hope you all enjoyed your time on the field.
In the coming weeks we will be announcing our perpetual trophy winners. Whilst we cannot hold our usual presentation day we plan to celebrate these well-deserved recipients in an online ceremony. We are planning to stream and/or the make the video available for all to watch. Stay tuned for more details shortly.
I look forward to seeing you all return for the 2021 season at Mount Colah ‘Colts’.
Yours in Football,
Mount Colah Football Club
